1. We'll always listen to local people
For years Croydon's Labour-run Council has taken our community for granted. The needs and views of local people have been ignored for far too long.
We will listen to what local residents are saying. We are here every day because we live here. We experience the same things you do when we shop, travel and go about our daily lives. Your opinions and issues deserve to be heard, and we promise to always be here for you.
Kyle and Jeet have lived locally for a combined 58 years. They shop in the same shops and drive on the same roads as you. They'll always listen to to their community, unlike the current failing Labour Council.
2. We'll finally fix Addiscombe's traffic chaos
The traffic situation in Elgin, Havelock and other local roads is intolerable. For years residents have rightly campaigned to reverse Labour's ill-thought-out one-way system - but their pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
If elected, we will reverse Labour's terrible traffic decisions. We will ensure fair traffic distribution across Addiscombe. We will ensure that appropriate traffic calming measures are introduced, following consultation with residents.
Jeet Bains and Kyle Knight have been campaigning to fix local traffic chaos. With a Conservative Mayor and a Conservative Council, they'll be able to make the changes you've been asking for.
3. We'll protect local green spaces and family homes from demolition
The Covid pandemic has taught us once again how much we should value our local green spaces and the opportunities they provide.
Croydon's Labour-run Council has consistently voted in favour of selling off public land and building on it. We will oppose any loss of our green spaces here in Addiscombe and always fight inappropriate development. There are lots of opportunities to build much needed homes on land that has been built on previously. Once we lose grass and trees they never come back!
The Labour Council has allowed developers to ride roughshod over local people. Jeet and Kyle will always support residents wanting to protect the character and amenities of Addiscombe.
4. We'll turbocharge tackling crime and ASB in Addiscombe
There have been far too many tragic incidents in Addiscombe over recent years. Violence and antisocial behaviour should not be the norm for us.
We will continue to work with the community and police in Addiscombe. We'll lobby for more night time patrols. We'll go back to locking the park gates at night. We'll campaign to improve lighting in known crime hot spots. We'll remove all graffiti quickly and prosecute those who do it.
Jeet and Kyle will always support boosting law enforcement in Addiscombe, to keep our community safe.
5. We'll always champion local business and community groups
For too long local businesses in Addiscombe have not been supported enough. We will always champion our high street, and back local entrepreneurs.
Our high street has been hit hard by the pandemic, and the Council just hasn't given it the backing it needs to bounce back. We regularly talk to local people, and will work hard to encourage a diverse, interesting suite of shops for our district centre to thrive once more.
6. We'll get Addiscombe's bins emptied and grass cut!
Labour's bankruptcy has often left the grass to grow long, right across Addiscombe's parks and grass verges. Poor management of contracts has allowed Veolia to get away with poor service for too long. It's not good enough.
We back the grass cutting schedule being restored to its former level and will bear down on poor service levels to make sure that local people get the services that they deserve.
