At a time of continuing gloom about the decline in the health of the average high street, it's a pleasure to report that I attended the official opening of a new shop in Purley. Regency Brides has just opened near Purley Fire Station and offers a dazzling selection of dresses and all the other essential services that go with arranging a marriage ceremony.
The owner is Sandra Bennett who has taken a lease on the Purley shop because she has outgrown her previous shop in Mitcham, and she kindly invited me to the ceremony. I was delighted that the ceremonial Mayor of Croydon Cllr Sherwan Chawdhury and Bishop Mark Nicholson of the ACTS Community church, Croydon were also able to join us, and we wish the new business every success in this venture.
