Christmas for my family starts at the Christingle Service at St Mary's on Purley Oaks Road. What seems like hundreds of people cram in to our church to consider the arrival of Christ and, in our church at least, leave with a lot of chocolate!! The Children's Society is the beneficiary of the donations that are made during the service.
This year's Christingle service had to be cancelled due to COVID but we are hoping to have an 'Eastingle' around Easter time to use up some of that chocolate. However, there were still a lot of oranges that needed to be used. So we were delighted that Father Peter decided to use up those oranges by making marmalade - and not just any marmalade but a choice of traditional marmalade or one with honey. All profits are going to the Children's Society to make up for, in small part, the loss in their income that they will have experienced.
As I've been typing this, the jar has already been opened and thumbs up given. We've now got fingers crossed that there might be a spare jar or two next week so that we can buy some more!
