I attended a meeting today at which proposals for a new kidney unit at St Georges were approved, to improve inpatient care for patients. This decision will now be taken forward to a full business case.
Almost eight out of ten kidney patients across south west London and Surrey supported the proposal, with seven in ten of those who felt their journeys would be longer still responding positively on the grounds of receiving better care.
I do still have concerns about the length of time it take to get to St George's and of course the parking arrangements at the hospital. It has been promised to take this on board as firmer plans are formulated.
