Strictly Deaf Awareness

This year's Strictly is particularly good with lots of non-dancing celebrities proving to be excellent dancers.

Rose Ayling-Ellis' dancing has been particularly impressive and, as she is deaf, we have also enjoyed watching her professional dancer,  Giovanni Pernice, learning British Sign Language and respecting her need to lipread what he says.

Earlier this year, I was delighted to have the opportunity to participate in a Deaf Awareness session with a quick introduction to British Sign Language, organised by the Empowering Deaf Society. It was great to hear about we can make life easier for Deaf people and we had an opportunity to practice some sign language.
