I’ve been contacted by a number of residents in Coulsdon concerned about the herbicide being used by Council officers.
I made some enquiries and found out the following:
- What is being sprayed?
The herbicide the Council uses is Monsanto Amenity Glyphosate for both the streets and the housing.
- Is it safe for animals? If not, what is the solution?
The Council says it is safe for animals - if you have evidence to the contrary then please do tell us and we'll take it up with the Council: mario.creatura@croydon,gov.uk.
- Some residents have said their own gardens have been sprayed and damaged. What can be done?
The Council accepts that sometimes there can be an overspray. If residents can email me with further details then the weed spray company will resolve if it's agreed they have done damage: [email protected].
- Time of operation: some complaints about it being loud and early in the morning.
They start at 6am on very quiet vehicles.
