We attended the friends of Wandle Park meeting. At the meeting, we learnt about the withdrawal of Croydon council funding from the park making it very difficult to manage the park and its facilities. We were very surprised at this as we thought it s a very well used park with tremendous heritage and as such, is one that the council should preserve. We however, constituted various committees to help look at managing the park including sourcing for funds to help keep existing activities at the park and at same time, explore new activities for the park. It was a great example of the community taking action to preserve its assets after being let down by the council and we were very excited about the prospects of the park.
