Wow!!!!
Old Coulsdon did us proud today.
Cllr Margaret Bird had put out a call for help to clear up the Bird Sanctuary in the Glade Old Coulsdon.
20 residents turned up some with their own equipment.
Both myself and the Council Officer, Tracey, underestimated the response.
BUT this is Old Coulsdon and you turned out!!!
The perimeter fence was cleared along Keston Avenue and The Glade.
It took more than the 2 hours we had scheduled partly because there was more than we anticipated and as the Croydon vehicle that first arrived could not take all the bags of rubbish we had generated and we had to wait for another 2 vehicles to turn up which were then promptly filled!
Thank you to Michael and Donald for staying with me to the end and helping lift those heavy bags. Stars both. That is not to say the others were not. Everyone worked really hard. Thank you!!
We had hoped to get inside the Bird Sanctuary which had been neglected for so long but the outside clean up took so long.
The nettles, brambles and bindweed are strangling other plants and trees in the Sanctuary and do need cutting back plus we can now see the rubbish that has been thrown inside.
Would be great to have another session ?
Anyone up for it?
