Local residents have informed me that Veolia's general waste trucks have taken to driving down roads immediately adjacent to Woodcote Primary and High School during the incredibly busy morning drop off period.
As a result not only is the truck prevented from moving around the area in the most efficient way possible, but it's causing huge traffic jams in the community. This area is already plagued by too many cars dropping children off at school, and so the truck is compounding an already very difficult problem.
The good news is that I've spoken to the Council who have agreed with Veolia that they will direct their collection crews away from the area (Grove Wood Hill in particular) during the 8-9am slot when the roads are at their busiest.
Due to driver shortages a number of new staff have recently been recruited. They are still getting used to their collection rounds, which explains some of the poor timing choices that means they have clashed with the incredibly busy school drop off period.
Hopefully going forwards when the children return to school after the summer break this will be rectified.
It's been promised to me that a Council officer will do a few ad hoc checks when they are in the area on the collection days to make sure all is in order.
