I reported previously on the condition of the site of the old community recycling centre at Hamsey Green. It is extremely overgrown with weeds and was full of litter. I did help clear up a lot of the litter and the council have finally come back to me with a response in terms of spraying the area with weed killer to prevent the block paving from further damage.
We were promised a bench and flower pot but since the council's bankruptcy we have been informed that this now will not take places. Sadly the officers response was: "Unfortunately due to the financial situation in the council the budget we had allocated for these projects was capital budget and we have not been allowed to retain it. This means in the short to medium term are only option will be weed spraying with no remedial work of putting the bench in and making the area more appealing".
The area is now a complete mess and this will once again be left to the community to clean up despite residents payment significant sums in council tax!
