Almost every weekend now residents who live near Haling Grove Park are subjected to noise and disruption from gatherings in the park. To add insult to injury the residents are left to clear up the rubbish left strewn around the park.
Awhile back my ward colleague Cllr Perry had succeeded in getting the park locked at night. However once the Bankruptcy of the Labour Council was announced in the autumn the funding needed to allow Council officers to lock the park was immediately stopped.
From grass left uncut for months on end, graffiti on so many buildings, bridges and street furniture the streets and public footpaths left in a filthy condition we see are starting to see the impact of the Bankruptcy caused by the financial incompetence of this Council.
Refusing to fund the locking of the park gates when the toilets are locked seems so unfair to residents left to deal with the impact of these gatherings
I have contacted the Council numerous times on these issues and am promised reports and updates but what residents need are the gates to be locked. Residents have offered numerous times to lock and unlock the park but their offer has fallen on deaf ears.
South Croydon councillors will continue to lobby to get the park locked at closing time.
