It was a pleasure to be invited to St Barnabas's patronal church service yesterday. Churches have been hard hit by Covid restrictions and this was their first live service since Christmas, so it was a relief that the service could be held outdoors in the scorching heat.
The service was led by the Archdeacon of Croydon Dr Rosemarie Mallett, and the priest in charge Justine Middlemiss, and it included the induction of two new churchwardens. After the service we were entertained by a live band while we enjoyed lunch and catching up again with parishioners.
