Purley residents are rightly upset about the huge amount of development that has been approved in the area,. This trend has greatly increased since Labour forced the Croydon Local Plan through Council in December 2018, as this positively encouraged developers to demolish family homes and replace them usually with blocks of nine flats. But we do at least expect that they will be built according to the approved plans.
Sadly, this is not happening on many sites across Purley, and the cuts forced on the Council by Labour's reckless financial policies last year have resulted in many fewer officers being available to chase and correct obvious deviations from plans.
In this case, the approved plans clearly show that the street boundary should be a hedge, yet a tall ugly fence has been installed, which itself requires planning permission because it's more than 2M tall.
I have referred this site to [email protected] and I very much hope that they take action to force replacement of this fence by a hedge as originally approved.
