I met with residents of South Drive today to discuss the development proposed for 1-3 South Drive, which I agree is a huge 6-storey block of flats that is completely out of keeping with the surrounding properties in this mainly 2-storey residential street.
I share residents’ concerns that this development would stick out like a sore thumb, due to its height, massing and design. It would also cause loss of privacy and light, and exacerbate parking stresses in the road.
The height of the proposed building especially would be overbearing and create an unwelcome precedent in the area.
I will support residents in their efforts to oppose this planning application which I think should be refused.
