‘I can now declare Ola Kolade as the….’, the words still feel blurry as it was one of the moments we had waited for at the By-elections, London Mayor & Assembly Election count in Olympia London last Saturday. It was a moment of personal and collective elation mixed with relief and I’d like to thank everyone who voted for me, I’m thrilled to work as hard as possible for every single vote.
I’m aware that the real work starts here and we will continue to engage with residents online, through literature and hopefully in person very soon. I’m really passionate about involving residents in decision making and collaborating to find solutions for us to keep improving Kenley. Even though I received a majority vote, I’m still aware there are residents who voted for the other candidates, or who simply did not vote this time, I’m still very keen to work for you, either through a local issue you need resolving or advocating on your behalf.
I’ve been encouraged by local residents who have already got in touch to congratulate me and a special thank you to Kenley & District Residents Association for their invitation and welcoming me to their meeting on Tuesday. I look forward to connecting with all community groups across Kenley and we will be working for you to ensure you get the support that you need from Croydon Council.
