Good news this week from the Council's Planning Committee for the residents of Purley Oaks and Riddlesdown (and for the rest of Croydon Borough). Cllr Paul Scott has been removed from the Planning Committee after seven years of dominating the Committee and advocating for houses being replaced by blocks of flats and BxB concreting green spaces.
Perhaps the Labour Leadership finally got the message that planning policies for the last few years have made the Council even more unpopular than simply bankrupting the Borough could do alone.
Hopefully we'll see a more sensible planning policy now that takes account of the views of local residents about how they would like to see new development in the area in which they live.
The image attached is just one example of a building scheme in Riddlesdown that at the Planning Committee was applauded by Labour as a good use of land in keeping with the area! The fact that the owners of the semi on the left now have to live with the other half of the pair being extended over most of the plot and turned into 6 flats was just ignored.
