Cllr. Andy Stranack continued his tour of local voluntary organisations recently when he met up with Vanessa Ledgister and Karen Barber from the Croydon Hearing Resource Centre. With just two part time staff and a number of dedicated volunteers the centre provides advice, equipment service and community clinics to people with hearing impairments across Croydon. Like much of the voluntary sector this valuable service is facing an uncertain future, with cuts in the funding the Labour Council gives to the service.
Andy commented
"The Hearing Resource Center is another shining example of the power of the voluntary sector in Croydon. This service is not only invaluable to the service users with hearing impairments but also to their families and carers. Both Vanessa and Karen are passionate about the services they provide and with their team of volunteers provide a service across the borough that relives pressure from our NHS, particularly the audiology services at Croydon University Hospital. We must do all we can to help support the centre."
