Purley & Woodcote councillors, Simon Brew and Samir Dwesar attended a Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) ward panel meeting on Tuesday 18th April at St Swithun’s Church with the local police team, residents and the Purley Business Improvement District (BID).
It was a useful and productive meeting under the new Chair and Purley resident, Ranjiv Nagi. During this meeting, we looked at some useful stats related to crime. We are both delighted that crime has consistently fallen across the ward last month and that the police have undertaken more speeding checks on various hotspots across Purley & Woodcote.
We went over the ward’s policing priorities which are: burglaries, vehicle thefts, violence against a person and speeding.
The local police have been very proactive in organising events such as their regular Coffee with a Copper meet-ups and have updated their website with upcoming dates. You can also find latest crime stats on this site as well as via the Mayor of London’s crime dashboard.
The police emphasised the need to report every crime, even if you think it isn’t worth reporting. This allows them to build a bigger picture of issues in the ward.
If you would like to attend future Safer Neighbourhood Team ward panel meetings, please email [email protected]. The next meeting will be in late July/early August and will be confirmed soon.

Our thanks to Ranjiv for his fantastic chairing, the police for working hard to keep us safe, the ward panel for volunteering their time to help our community and Reverend Fiona for offering her Church and tea, coffee and biscuits.
