I'm grateful to Phil Thomas of the Riddlesdown Residents' Association for permission to copy from a recent email:
A reminder that the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to cover all London Boroughs starts from 00.30hrs on Tuesday 29 August 2023, and it operates 24 * 7.
The drivers of all non-compliant vehicles (both petrol and diesel) will have to pay a daily charge of £12.50 if a vehicle is driven anywhere within the ULEZ boundary. This includes residents and all visitors coming into the London Boroughs. The fine (Penalty Charge) is £180 but if paid within 14 days it is reduced to £90.
Interestingly, the part of Sanderstead bounded by the Limpsfield Rd, Addington Rd and Old Farleigh Rd is not included in the ULEZ area, and some parts of Coulsdon are excluded. The Godstone Rd (A22) from the Borough boundary at Whyteleafe, up to and around the Purley Cross (Brighton Rd) is also excluded.
If you know any visitor living outside London who has to visit the Royal Marsden at Sutton, tell them that they will need to have a compliant vehicle, or pay the daily charge. This is because Downs Rd for the main entrance and one of the car parks to the Royal Marsden is just within the new boundary in Sutton, as is Cotswold Rd for the car park and entrance to the new Oak Centre. Both roads now have cameras on them.
Heathrow Airport is also within the ULEZ zone - so if travelling there on two separate days in a non compliant vehicle, for example before and after a holiday, it will cost £25.00. There is no advance warning signage in most Boroughs adjoining London, like Surrey, Kent etc.
More details, to check your vehicle/motor cycle registration number and the map are on this TfL link; https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone
The map seems to have temporarily disappeared off the TfL website!
A separate ULEZ map is on this link to zoom in on streets." https://ulez.co.uk/ulez-map/
