I have been asked to publicise the Zoom activities from 18th Purley Scout Group:
Due to the new lockdown, we have had to resort to using Zoom for our Scouts and Cubs which we are currently doing weekly. We have focused on fun games and educational activities like quizzes rather than specific badge related activities. We have good regular attendance across the Scouts and Cubs and positive feedback. With the Scouts, we now have the Patrol Leaders contributing to the weekly session. However, the Leaders generally do not know the answers to the Younger People's quizzes such as Minecraft! Nevertheless, the Troop have enjoyed the sessions.
It has been good to get the Patrol Leaders on-board and gives them the responsibility that goes with the role. We will continue to use Zoom until such time as we are allowed to go back to face to face Scouting when it will be lighter in the evenings and we will be allowed outside.
We have held virtual cooking sessions over Zoom, but I think we're all looking forward to cooking round a campfire when we're allowed.
