Purley Way travellers: a message from the Mayor's office:
We can confirm that the Environmental Enforcement Officers (EEO) are aware of this group. Contact has been made and the officer was informed that the group would be moving on, on Thursday 21st July, but unfortunately, this did not happen. As a result, the officer is now in the process of obtaining a court order. Please be aware, that this process can take some time to obtain. In the meantime, if there are any cases of anti-social behaviour from the individuals in the encampment, please report this to the police directly. An officer attended the site after Matts BBQ and confirms that the bottom gate was closed and secured after the event; both padlocks were in place. Everything indicates the padlocks were cut to gain access to the field, however there is no evidence that indicates the camped group is responsible for the criminal damage.
