Last week I attended a regular catch up meeting with Govia Thameslink Railway's Senior Stakeholder Manager to discuss the train service from Kenley station - which is on the Caterham branch.
I've reported before on the service and I'm sorry to say that the number of passengers using the line hasn't increased sufficiently for GTR to increase the number of trains. GTR said that passenger numbers are relatively stable at around 79-80% of 2019 levels, although there has been a small increase after the summer holidays.
Options are being looked at to increase the train fleet which may provide flexibility for an increased service from 2025. GTR recognise that a 12+ month timescale is not rapid, but they did want to provide some assurance that the service is recognised as a challenge and they are looking at options for how they can support more growth on the route in future.
