A three storey block of flats has been approved on the corner of Selsdon Rd and West Hill opposite Croham Hurst Woods. It replaces a family house at 56 West Hill. Directly opposite is no 444 Selsdon road with a granted application for another block of flats. The grant of permission at 56 West Hill opens the way for another planning application directly behind at no 1 Sandhurst Way.
This utterly changes the character of the area characterised by detached houses with generous gardens. The continued loss of trees and gardens that support nature with each of these applications but by bit month after month is a concern in these times of climate change.
Once again this application was pushed through by the Labour majority on the Planning Committee and opposed by the Conservative councillors.
Residents are fighting back by getting together and funding a legal battle to stop these developments through restrictive covenants.
