Today I had a meeting and walkaround South Norwood Country Park, together with the friends of group, and some of the local ward councillors.
This was my third visit to the site, and it was a pleasure to see the passion this group clearly has. We discussed a number of concerns and issues which I have asked officers to look into.
South Norwood Country Park is a nature reserve, and local gem in North Croydon. Croydon North is often seen as an area which is lacking on green spaces, as a proud North Croydon man, I am proud to call this one of my local parks. We have hundreds of spaces like this across Croydon, all of which deserve and need to be protected, and given the required love and attention.
The previous labour administration had neglected South Norwood Country Park for years, I am hoping we can change this for the better, even within our very limited finances and resources.
This is apart of my ambition to proactively work together with all of our friends groups, we are lucky to have about 47 currently, with a number of new groups forming soon.
