Many know from my previous postings that I am a Trustee of SLAM and therefore regularly attend Board meetings. I was delighted to hear that the unannounced inspection by the CQC of the older adults department was awarded "Outstanding" for their caring domain. Congratulations to the Chief Nurse Venessa Smith. It is difficult to achieve outstanding status particularly in the current post pandemic climate. In my council work we are very closely aligned with SLAM through the Alliance Work. I fully endorse the principal of "right care, right person" which aims to ensure that the right professional sees individuals with a mental health and/or broader health and social care needs.
