The location of polling stations for the forthcoming Mayor of London and Greater London Assembly elections on 6th May 2021 have been announced.
A large number of polling stations will change for this election. This is in part because normal venues are either unavailable or unsuitable for the introduction of measures to make polling stations Covid-safe – particularly the need to maintain distancing in the venues. In addition, last month the Government directed that Returning Officers should, where possible, try not to use schools as polling stations in order to avoid further disruption to children’s education. A considerable amount of work has taken place in very limited time to, identify and assess potential alternatives.
In total across the borough there will be different polling station locations for 35 of the 148 polling districts. At the General Election in December 2019, 37 schools were used. This year the number will be reduced to 19, and efforts will be made to try and enable those that are used to remain open instead of closing for the day, although this will not be possible in all cases.
Poll cards will be sent to registered electors around the Easter weekend, and with so many changes to polling stations, electors are asked to check their poll card carefully before they go to vote. A polling station finder will also be included on the Council website to help people to check where their station is located, and signs will be displayed outside the normal venues on polling day to direct electors to the new location.
The polling stations in Selsdon and Addington Village ward are:
SAV1: St Mary`s Church Hall, Addington Village Road, Croydon, CR0 5AS
SAV2: Addington Methodist Church, On the corner of Huntingfield/Featherbed Lane, Croydon, CR0 9BA
SAV3: St Francis Church, Tedder Road, Monks Hill, CR2 8AH
SAV4: Selsdon Primary School, Nursery Block, Addington Road, CR2 8LQ
SAV5: St Columba`s Catholic Church Hall, Queenhill Road, South Croydon, CR2 8DW
SAV6: Heathfield House, off Ballards Way, CR0 5RH
The only change is the SAV6 polling station has been moved from The Garage as that venue is unsuitable.
