On Monday 8th October Croydon Council - run by Labour - announced that Blackhorse Lane Bridge will not open until 2020 at the earliest. Within months of the Council elections in May, Labour has reneged on their promise to open the bridge by 2019.
Blackhorse Lane has been closed to vehicles since August 2016, when safety concerns were raised over its corroding structure. It was initially due to be completed by November 2018, but in May 2017 we learned it was delayed until January 2019. This new, further delay until 2020 is completely unacceptable.
Labour control Croydon Council. Sadiq Khan is the Labour Mayor of London and he controls Transport for London. Every organisation that plays a part in getting this bridge re-opened is controlled by Labour. Again, Labour has failed. Again, Labour has let local people down.
Addiscombe East Councillor Jeet Bains has asked our GLA Member, Steve O’Connell, to challenge the Mayor publicly on why he continues to fail the people of Addiscombe and Woodside. But we need your help to do more.
Join Jeet in signing a letter calling upon Mayor Khan to make this a priority and get this bridge opened – we have waited long enough!

The more people who sign the letter, the more weight it will carry with Mayor Khan - please do share the letter with your friends, family and neighbours so we can get our bridge back.
