Recently the excellent Friends of Rickman Hill Park asked me to find out when the grass was due to be cut on Rickman Hill.
You'll hopefully recall that your local councillors were pushing last year for the grass to be trimmed following valid complaints that the length was stopping children from playing, locals from exercising, dogs from being walked and impacting the trade of Dotty's Tea Garden.
This year the delay to cutting has been caused not by Covid, but by the main tractor that the Council uses being out of operation with no date known for when it would be back online.
Thankfully a smaller tractor has been located and this is now diligently trimming the parks of Croydon.
I'm told by the hard-working grounds maintenance team that Rickman Hill will be mown in the next fortnight.
