I am pleased to share that Coulsdon Road has reopened today – a week early. I have just driven through myself to check, and it is open, with temporary lights at the Old Coulsdon end causing a very short delay.
It is welcome that the essential drainage works have been completed ahead of schedule and before schools return from the Summer break.
I am aware, from comments on my social media updates, of issues faced by some, such as with the width restrictions and traffic jams. I am pleased that Croydon Council was monitoring and adjusting, as well as keeping my office and I updated, and please be assured that I have raised residents’ concerns so they can be taken on board if planning any similar schemes elsewhere in the neighbourhood in the future.
This builds on the previous receptive response to residents’ feedback, and the work by Mayor Jason Perry, supported and encouraged by me as the local MP, local Residents Groups and local councillors Margaret Bird and Nikhil Thampi, to ensure Stites Hill Road remained open for two-way residential traffic.
I hope that this short update is useful and that you will join me in sharing this good news with friends and neighbours.
Best wishes,
Chris
