Residents on Chaplin Place on Cane Hill informed me yesterday that a fox had sadly passed away on their road. They had reported this to the Council who promised to collect it on three occasions but as yet they haven't attended.
Officers asked locals to put the animal into a bag and await collection, but despite residents continuing to chase, no collection has been attempted.
Locals are quite right to be upset at the slow service: it is now at the point it smells so bad they cannot open their windows and the closest properties are getting complaints from neighbours thinking that they haven't taken the action to get it cleared by the Council.
Straight after I was informed I contacted the Council to ask for urgent clearance. I've today received an apology for the delay and an assurance that an urgent Veolia team has been dispatched to clear it by the end of the day.
I will continue to monitor the situation to ensure this happens.
