I'm delighted that at last, there is a proposal to redevelop the whole of the Purley leisure centre complex including the pools, the gym the car park and the old Sainsburys site, which closed in the late 1990s.
The site leaseholder is Polaska who staged an exhibition at Christ Church Purley on 20/6 which was attended by about very interested 100 residents. There were about 20 board displays covering all aspects of the development. and several staff, including the chief architect were on hand to provide more detail and answer any questions. The proposal is to have two pools, (25M & training), a cafe, gym and machine area, a car park, and public square. The whole complex will also include about 240 "later living" flats which are intended for the over 55s.
It was a very successful consultation which will be repeated on FRIDAY 23 June from 4:00 - 7:00pm again at Christ Church, and there will also be a stall at the Purley fete on Saturday 24/6.
