There is a proposal for a new telecommunications mast outside St Edmunds Church on Mitchley Avenue which I have objected to today.
I assess such applications individually, conscious that whilst such masts are not attractive, almost all of us have a mobile phone and Riddlesdown doesn't always have the best phone signal.
I have objected because I believe that this will be a particularly conspicuous mast, visible from both directions on Mitchley Avenue and from Buttermere Gardens. The mast will be similar to that on Limpsfield Road at Hamsey Green which I notice, for the wrong reasons, every time I drive towards Sanderstead from Warlingham.
I am also concerned that the applicant has not considered the impact of the flooding that takes place at this point and that the work may interfere with the much needed flood alleviation why I continue to pressure the Council to commence.
The application can be seen at the link below.
