Here's another scam warning from Croydon's Trading Standards department.. If your bank phones you out of the blue, and even if their number seems to be correct - don't trust them. Hang up, wait 30 secs and dial the number for yourself, preferably from a different phone. This is REALLY difficult to follow in practice, because if your card really HAS been used fraudulently (as happened to me about six months ago), the bank will ring you to check details. You need to be extremely careful, and NEVER transfer money at the bank's request to a different account.
