The mural at Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church Community Hub is finished!
Back in November I reported on the planned artwork, part of the Connecting Kenley project. The artist was selected at small workshop was held with representatives of the Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church community and co-designed with the community and children at New Valley Primary School.
Over the past month or so, it has been great to watch the transformation from initial concepts on a blank canvas to a vibrant and captivating piece of artwork. The mural demonstrates what's important to the Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church community and ensures a sense of place.
Look closely and you’ll see the key themes of hope, community, hands, diversity, wildlife/nature of Kenley, unity and togetherness, empowerment, dignity, world/earth, sustenance (food/fruit and veg from the Food Stop Shop), growth, family, Christianity and well as illustrating many of the key activities hosted at the Community Hub.
In this part of the ward, the Connecting Kenley project has installed new wayfinding signage and is delivering a ‘pocket park’ outside of the Old Lodge Lane parade. See more about the Connecting Kenley launch event which took place last June.
