I reported two maintenance items to Thames Water today, and one to Sutton & East Surrey Water.
For some months there has been a very noisy drain cover in the middle of the roadway just outside Confidental, and opposite Tesco. I reported it some months ago via the LoveCleanstreets app but nothing has happened, so today I reported it direct to Thames Water. You can lodge these reports online but today I tried their 24*7 phone line 0800 316 9800 and I was pleasantly surprised by their response. After a very short wait, I spoke to a live person who promised to log the problem and send me texts reporting its status.
On Facebook, I've also picked up some residents' complaints of a drains-type smell at the very start of the A22, just North of the railway bridge. The agent on the phone assured me that this problem would be investigated within three days, so let's see what happens.
In general Thames Water is the correct contact for all public drains/sewers/foul water/smells.
In Purley fresh water is partly supplied by the Sutton & East Surrey Water company based in Redhill and partly by Thames Water, and there's an area supply map on both companies' sites. Fresh water leaks (such as the small one outside 24 Foxley Lane which I've just reported) need to be reported to the correct company, which in this case is Sutton & East Surrey.
