The current national restriction rules remain in place until 2nd December and must be followed until they expire. When meeting people you don’t live with, it is important to do so outdoors where possible, or to make sure that any indoor venue has good ventilation (for example by opening windows so fresh air can enter).
From the beginning of Wednesday 2nd December there will be a new tiered system so there will be tighter restrictions where prevalence of the disease is highest. Different restrictions will apply in different parts of the country.
These tiers will be strengthened compared to the previous tiers to prevent a return to growing infections. Social contact spreads the virus so the toughest measures will only apply in the areas where the virus is most prevalent or where there are sharp increases in the rate of infection.
There are 3 tiers for local restrictions:
On Thursday 26 November the government will announce which tier we will be in. There will be an online post code checker. The NHS COVID-19 app will be updated on 2 December.
