I was delighted to speak at the mental health summit yesterday at the Braithwaite Hall. This was a manifesto pledge by Mayor Perry who is so passionate about improvements to mental health services. Keynote speakers included Mayor Perry, Sir Norman Lamb, Bishop Dr Rosemarie Mallett, Mother Susan from Croydon Citizens, Wayland Lousley, Head of Mental Health Commissioning, Stella Bolt, Programme Manager for the EMHIP Project, Alex Enahoro and our Director of Public Health Rachel Flowers. We had the opportunity to celebrate the work of South London Listens and the Be Well Hubs in Croydon, hear from our Mayor on his commitment to improving mental health for all residents in Croydon and our health professionals on their transformation services.
Break-out sessions allowed us to discuss and note two main topics, barriers to access in the community and signposting and treatment in primary care. Further break-out sessions included Croydon's Health and Care Plan, SWL Mental Health Strategy, the Suicide Prevention Strategy and reflections on our thoughts.
I will be taking a paper to the Health and Wellbeing Board to see how we can bring all of this work together and more importantly implement an action plan through our Croydon Health and Care Plan.
