A number of areas where children play have been returned to meadow due to the Council bankruptcy. Sadly now the grass in the "so-called" meadows has been cut it is more like a compost heap due to the long clumps of grass that now sit in rain drenched piles. Sadly children can no longer play on these grounds, such as the area in Cherry Tree Green. They haven't even got the proper equipment to carry out this task. No wonder residents have literally turned to the streets to try to clear up Labour's mess. The response I have received from the council is as follows:
"The Meadowing areas were brought in early this year as part of cost saving measure but also to try and reduce the overall time spent in general mowing. In order to complete the Meadowing task successfully towards the end of the cutting season, we need the correct equipment to collect the grass. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control the required equipment has not been available so all we can do at the moment is cut with the mowers we have currently. I am aware that new plant and machinery is on order so this issue of grass cuttings being left will hopefully not occur next year.
