It is always very sad to see a Children's Playground in our community which is inundated with litter!
On Saturday, as a part of the Croydon Conservatives Litter Pick Session in Milne Park, New Addington, the team cleared the Children's Playground of litter, including glass! The photos attached really do not do the volume of litter we encountered justice, I was shocked to see that with this one area alone we collected three bags of rubbish!
After conversations with the local community, they confirmed that efforts have been made to regularly collect litter in the playground themselves, for it to then soon after to be full of litter once again!
Following this, I contacted Council Officers to enquire how regularly this area is cleared by the Council, and what more can be done to support the community. It is important that regular efforts are made to ensure areas, especially children playgrounds, are cleared of rubbish, and that litter bins are also emptied on a regular basis, to try and reverse "Broken Windows impact" in all areas across the borough!
Thank you to all those people in New Addington who already take great pride in their area, I will do all I can to assist in your efforts!
