Local residents will have noticed the lane closure around Cappella Court. The first I knew of it was when I drove around it last Wednesday. I’ve encountered it 4 times now with the cones in slightly different places each time.
Officers have since advised me that they were able to
“reduce works down from 24 hour lane closures for 18 months, to facilitate the scaffolding, to three months of off peak lane closures to facilitate the removal and replacement of windows working off cradles .
The lane closures have been agreed for the first phase from 28th June to 23rd July.
The 2nd phase is to close the right hand lane to northbound traffic from 24th July to 7th August, which is in the school holiday. Advance warning signs will be out two weeks prior to make drivers aware. The diversion for displaced traffic will be via A235 Brighton Road, the A22 Purley Road and the A23 Brighton Road.
The third phase will revert back to lane closures will be from 7th August to 30 September.”
It looks like the 2nd phase will be the most problematic so I have asked for details to be provided so that we can all make the necessary changes to our journeys.
