I spent Saturday morning supporting Kenley residents association with an organised clean up of Wattenden Pond. The area had significantly overgrown, resulting in a blind spot for motorists and a safety concern for road users. The installation of the pond began in 2012 but unfortunately it has since dried up over the years. Due to its common land status, it is a challenge to get statutory organisations like Croydon Council to help maintain the area but it was very encouraging to see residents come out and support the clear out. There are now considerations about reviving the pond and introducing a wild garden. If you would like to help out with future sessions or provide funding for the upkeep of the area, please contact [email protected]
