This Remembrance Sunday, Kenley came together to remember the many brave men and women who lost their lives serving in the two worlds wars or other conflicts.
The quiet afternoon chill, surrounded by the open spaces of Kenley Common - just a short distance from the historic Kenley Airfield, provided a serene location to remember those who died defending our freedoms and protecting our way of life.
The Wreath laying at the RAF Tribute was both solemn and moving, with attendees reflecting a sense of community and shared remembrance. Local veterans, resident associations, police, politicians, schools, and community organisations of all ages stood side by side, united in paying respects.
Kenley Airfield played a crucial role during the Battle of Britain as one of the primary RAF fighter stations defending London. Its legacy as a place of bravery and resilience is woven into the fabric of Kenley’s local history.
