During the summer, the council undertook a consultation on whether to introduce a healthy schools street scheme for Kenley Primary School. As we reported in October, the Executive Mayor and Cabinet approved plans on a trial basis to introduce an additional nine Healthy School Street schemes, affecting ten local schools, including the one at Kenley Primary School & Kindergarten.
Council Officers have informed us that construction works for the scheme are expected to commence from 12th December to facilitate the implementation of the scheme, which will then come into force on 23rd January 2023, for a 18 month period.
Kenley Primary has been consulted and the scheme discussed with them. The scheme will affect residents living in Mosslea Road and New Barn Lane. The council has sent residents living in the road information explaining:
• How the scheme will work and operational date
• How to apply for exemptions permits
• How and when to submit objections and feedback
• Where to find more information and how to contact the council with any queries.
The scheme is being installed as a trial under Experimental Traffic Management Order for a maximum period of 18 months. The first 6 months of the trial is known as the ETMO objection period, during which anyone affected can submit objections to the council for our consideration. This will provide residents a further opportunity to provide feedback on the scheme while it is operated on the public highway.
