Not many people are aware that the Borough is home to more than 100 care homes of which about 35 are in Purley.
Last week, the owner of one of the smaller specialist homes asked for my help in getting the Council to meet its payment obligations. The Council had agreed in May 2020 (12 months ago!) that it would pay a £30,000 supplementary bill for the essential specialist care of one of the home's residents. Despite months of chasing and lots of promises, the money had never been paid, and the home was suffering serious financial hardship.
I'm delighted to report that the bill was settled quickly after my intervention, so the home was able to concentrate on giving excellent care to its patients rather than having to worry about whether it would be able to pay its staff.
