Today I met with the friends of Whitehorse Meadows, as apart of my aim to meet and speak to the 47 friends of groups across Croydon.
This site is an often overlooked green space, that can be a blessing and a curse, but thankfully the local community are passionate enough to stand up for the space. I was pleased to see recently that the brambles have been cut back, after 3 years of no maintenance on the site at all. This is good for wildflowers, wild flowers etc. At this stage the small pond is nearly gone from the excess heat we have had lately, but I am hopeful that once we have a spell of rain again, it will quickly refill.
I am hoping that the dialogue with this group has been recreated, and I look forward to working with them in the future, together with my deputy for customer service, Cllr Lara Fish.
