The really massive pile of wood that was stacked up awaiting the March bonfire has been considerably reduced. We were a bit short of workers compared to the usual turnout for a bonfire, which is generally thought to be the most enjoyable of our work-parties, but despite the hard work, all those that joined in had a great time.
We now need to replenish that pile and fortunately there is plenty of timber spread all over the Beeches that needs to be collected, following the storms early this year. Much of what was toppled has copious quantities of ivy surrounding it, which will need lopping off before we get to the branches, so loppers and bow saws are what are required. For the early birds 9am start, we will meet at the Green Room AKA the electrical sub-station for distribution of tools. For those arriving later, the bonfire site will be base-camp.
Last month I made mention of our new Risk Assessment document, it is all common sense, but we all sometimes need reminding of what should be obvious. I have included a link that will take you directly to the Risk Assessment on our website and I do ask all those that attend our work-parties to check it out.

Following on from that, we now have 6 bright yellow, easily adjustable hard hats to be worn by those cutting branches or working in any awkward situation. Please ensure you are wearing proper work gloves particularly when handling bow saws and as usual stout shoes and suitable gardening clothes.
Finally, a reminder about our PLATINUM PARTY IN THE PARK Sunday June 5th
You should have received a SAVE THE DATE email recently and soon an actual invite with a list of all the planned activities will be emailed. If you haven’t already, please put the date in your diary.
Looking forward to seeing as many of our members on the 9th as possible.
