I was pleased to attend the Friends of Purley Beeches AGM on Friday, 27 November 2020. The Friends do so much work to maintain the beauty of the park for all to enjoy. Now that the council is in such dire straits financially the Friends are extremely worried in case the park grounds will not be maintained and the grass cut. There has been talk of leaving it as a meadow which would mean that families who bring young children to play games on the grass wouldn't be able to do so. Many flats have little or no amenity space so it is extremely important that they are able to play sports, etc. here.
The Sanderstead councillors also supported a couple of benches through their community budget which have now been installed. As you can see from the picture someone is enjoying a rest after running round the park already.
Do join the Friends Group and get involved in the work days. Membership is only £5. The next working party day is on 12 December. They would be very appreciative of your help at this difficult time when much of the responsibility of poor financial management by this Labour Administration is falling on local resident groups.
