With an increase in electric vehicles, it’s welcome that Croydon Council is taking steps to increase the number of charging points (there are over 400 public ones at the moment).
I am also pushing developers to include an acceptable number of charging points in planning applications and for Council officers to put robust conditions on this before agreeing to recommend an application for approval.
In Purley & Woodcote, we currently have the following charge points:
- Approach Road (Purley Station), CR8 2DA
- Brighton Road 116, CR8 4BD
- Foxley Lane, Foxley Hatch Pub, CR8 2LE
- High St, Purley, CR8 2AA
- Lower Road, CR8 2DT (on the ward boundary with Kenley)
- Pampisford Road, CR2 6DH (on the ward boundary with Purley Oaks & Riddlesdown)
- Russell Hill Road, CR8 2LE
- Whytecliffe Road South, CR8 2AX
Some residents have asked about planning permission for charge points. This is not required. If a traffic order is required, this will be advertised locally.
If residents have suggestions for new charge point locations, they can submit them via the Council’s website: https://www.croydon.gov.uk/parking-streets-and-transport/travel/charging-points-electric-cars-and-vans
The next tranche of charge points is yet to be confirmed.
