I have been informed today that the flood alleviation work currently taking place on Mitchley Avenue is running behind schedule. This is mainly due to issues with the delivery of materials/safety equipment which meant that the contractor was unable to commence the deep excavation for the soakaways. I have been advised that the contractor is working as quickly as is practical to complete the works in good time and the current anticipated completion date is 14th September 2021. This is subject to no major engineering difficulties being encountered or unforeseen emergencies.
It is not clear how long the traffic lights will be operational which is a concern given that Riddlesdown Collegiate will be re-opening in less than 2 week time so I will provide an update once I have more information.
