I have received a number of messages about the state of Rotary Field after the funfair left and therefore would like to update residents on the situation.
Councillors are not notified of upcoming events on public land in their ward so the first we knew of the funfair was when I spotted it being set up. I contacted the Council’s Licensing team to seek clarification on whether residents would still be able to access the park and how the park would be returned to its previous state after the funfair had left. My previous post on the funfair is here: https://www.croydonconservatives.com/news/funfair-purley-rotary-field
I was disappointed last week to see the state of Rotary Field and immediately contacted the Council again to seek reassurance that the park would be returned to its original state. The response that I received last Thursday was,
“The parks ground maintenance team are due to visit the site within the next couple of days and will make an assessment. If repairs are required, they will produce a report with a breakdown of the required costs and funds can be almost immediately transferred to grounds maintenance.”
I have again visited this morning and I can see that the ground is recovering but there are bald patches that will need reseeding after the compacted soil has been loosened up.
I have also reported the rubbish in the park today – it looks like the bins have been emptied but the rubbish around them has been left.
